"Welland Gouldsmith School, Patuli, nestled in the heart of Baishnabghata, Kolkata, is the visionary creation of Dr. (Ms) G.R. Hart, the esteemed Director & CEO. This Anglo-Indian, English Medium, Co-Educational institution proudly holds affiliations with the ICSE & ISCE boards, nurturing young minds since its inception on April 19, 2004.

From its modest genesis with approximately 350 students spanning Nursery to Class V, WGS, Patuli, emerged as a beacon of educational excellence. A dozen devoted teachers laid the groundwork on the ground floor and basement of the initial building. Our mission, encapsulated in the motto “Nisi Dominus Frustra” or “Unless the Lord in Vain, ” underscores our belief in the intrinsic value of spirituality in education.

The journey from those foundational years to our current stature, housed in a magnificent five-storied edifice across a sprawling 1.399-acre campus, is a testament to our dedication. Today, we guide nearly 1800 students from Nursery to Class Twelve under the tutelage of a team of 60 passionate educators. This journey commenced with the auspicious laying of the foundation stone on August 20, 2002, graced by luminaries like His Excellency Shri. Viren J. Shah, Hon’ble Governor of West Bengal, and Shri. Hashim Abdul Halim, Hon’ble Speaker of the West Bengal Legislative Assembly, in the esteemed presence of Dr. (Ms) G. R. Hart and other distinguished personalities.

Amidst the countless milestones, our High Tension transformer stands as a testament to our progress. WGS, Patuli stands firm in its commitment to provide an equitable and inclusive educational experience, transcending all forms of discrimination. It's our vision to sculpt young minds for tomorrow's challenges, fostering a harmonious and intellectually stimulating environment. Here, each pupil is encouraged to cultivate their intellectual prowess, unleash creative energies, nurture enterprising spirits, hone physical skills, and uphold moral values. Our goal is to impart holistic education, shaping responsible and conscientious citizens of India. We ardently support the education of underprivileged children, regardless of their community, striving to eliminate barriers to learning.

Infrastracture

The infrastructure of our school in Patuli Township is a testament to a well-conceived academic environment. Spread across five meticulously organized floors, the building embodies spaciousness, abundant natural light, and exceptional ventilation, optimizing conducive spaces for learning.

Starting from the ground floor, administrative offices such as the Academic Administrator, Principal, Vice-Principal, Accounts Department, Site Manager, and Secretaries are housed. This floor also hosts an exclusive Activity Room tailored for the Pre-Primary section. On the first floor, a sizable and comfortable Director’s Chamber fosters an environment conducive to administrative discussions and decisions.

Each floor is meticulously planned, housing a minimum of eight classrooms and dedicated subject rooms. These rooms are generously sized, well-lit, and spacious enough to comfortably accommodate approximately 40-45 students, fostering an ideal setting for academic engagement. Additionally, the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th floors feature expansive Examination Halls, designed for optimal testing conditions.

Thoughtfully designed staffrooms for teachers are strategically positioned on the 1st, 2nd, and 4th floors. Adequate restroom facilities, separate for male and female students and staff members, are available on every floor. Moreover, a well-equipped Infirmary on the 2nd floor ensures readiness to manage medical emergencies promptly.

The 4th floor hosts essential academic amenities, including a Computer Room and a meticulously stocked Library. Housing a diverse collection of approximately
abundaunt books encompassing Reference books, Non-fiction, and Fiction, the library is managed by a trained librarian and an assistant, catering to the literary needs of students across various classes.

For scientific exploration, dedicated Physics, Chemistry, and Biology Laboratories on the 3rd floor offer well-lit, ventilated, and spacious environments, accommodating up to 40 students simultaneously. An Elevator connecting all floors ensures accessibility for physically challenged students and teachers, promoting inclusivity within our institution.

To guarantee uninterrupted power supply during school hours, a Generator is installed, complementing the overall infrastructure. The Basement serves as an extensive storage area for school equipment, ensuring efficient organization.

Beyond academics, our premises include a Playground and a Basketball court, fostering physical recreation and sports activities, further enriching the holistic development of our students.
