Vidya Vikash Academy

Established in 1982, Vidya Vikash Academy is nestled in the serene Hermitage, a picturesque setting on the eastern slope of Darjeeling town, adjacent to Raj Bhawan on the Mall. Initially catering to 105 students with a staff of five teachers for classes 3 to 7, the institution witnessed exponential growth, culminating in its recognition by the Government of West Bengal in 1985. Shortly thereafter, it secured affiliation with the prestigious Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations in New Delhi for ICSE Examinations.

The journey commenced with a modest batch of six students appearing for the ICSE Examinations in March 1986, yielding outstanding results, leading to a consistent increase in candidates each year with a steadfast 100% success rate.

Spanning three expansive concrete structures, the campus is ensconced within a lush "Green Belt" of trees and perennial flora, fostering a pollution-free and healthy environment conducive to the pursuit of knowledge, befitting the ethos of VIDYA VIKASH ACADEMY.

In 1999, the school expanded to ISC (+2) level, offering Science, Commerce, and Humanities streams, wherein the ISC batch emulated the success of their ICSE counterparts. Notably, Vidya Vikash Academy stands distinguished as the SOLE SCHOOL in NORTH BENGAL to offer BIO-TECHNOLOGY at the ISC level.

The institution is entrusted to a competent faculty of over fifty teachers catering to students from classes 3 to 12, complemented by a supervisory team in the administrative office. The unwavering support extends to dedicated maintenance and security staff, ensuring a robust infrastructure.

While academic excellence remains pivotal, Vidya Vikash Academy places equal emphasis on co-curricular activities encompassing sports, music, drama, elocution, quizzes, debates, and social and community service. Senior students contribute to maintaining an eco-friendly campus.

Having secured a distinguished position in the town's educational landscape, Vidya Vikash Academy remains propelled by the values of universal love (CARITAS) and progress, poised for an illustrious future.
