About School
The dawn of India's independence heralded a visionary mission for Himansu Kumar Niyogi, the school's founder, driven by a fervent commitment to shape the youth into worthy citizens of a free nation. His profound connection with Sri Aurobindo and the Mother ignited a dream that became the impetus for the school's inception.
In 1961, during the tenure of West Bengal's Chief Minister, Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy, the foundation stone for New Horizon School was laid with a vision deeply rooted in educational excellence. Dr. Roy, in his wisdom, proposed the eminent educationist Humayun Kabir for this esteemed task. On the auspicious day of the Mother's birthday, February 21, 1961, amidst her blessings, Humayun Kabir ceremoniously laid the foundation stone, marking the commencement of an illustrious journey.
The edifice at Priyanath Mullick Road, christened "New Horizon" by the Mother, acquired profound significance, becoming the beacon of educational aspirations. Subsequently recognized and affiliated under the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education in May 1996, the school's progress received a boost with monetary support from the Mayor's Fund. This assistance facilitated the introduction of computer education, marking a pivotal stride toward modernized learning. The installation of computers ushered in a new era of educational technology, aligning with the school's ethos of continuous advancement and holistic student development.
