The Calcutta Emmanuel School

In 1978, Reverend Vijayan Pavamani established an enduring legacy of compassion and education by welcoming nine street children into The Calcutta Samaritans' office at Royd Street within the Emmanuel Chapel's premises. These children, bereft of basic rights, found solace in an hour of songs and storytelling—a humble beginning that burgeoned into a nurturing haven.

The foundation laid by Reverend Pavamani endures, fostering a holistic environment where children not only learn but flourish. Our ethos resonates with empowering these young minds through a plethora of activity clubs—Drama, Music, Dance, Public Speaking & Quiz, Art & Craft, and Stitching—encouraging them to polish their talents. Their enthusiasm radiates in interschool competitions, debates, and elocution contests, earning them numerous accolades and recognition.

In 2014, an exceptional collaboration with Whole 9 Yards, a distinguished Kolkata-based theatre group, resulted in a captivating musical production of the timeless classic, Oliver Twist, showcasing the depth of talent nurtured within the Calcutta Emmanuel School.

Beyond academic excellence, our students actively engage in civic endeavors, participating in neighborhood cleanliness drives and championing anti-substance abuse campaigns. While adhering to the daily rigors of the ICSE and ISC curricula, our classrooms are led by an exceptional cadre of trained educators.
