Orient Day School

Dr. J.L. Banerjee, an esteemed physician in Behala, keenly observed the challenges faced by these students and, driven by a deep-seated commitment to education, established Orient Day School in 1977, commencing academic sessions in 1979.

In an act of benevolence, Dr. Banerjee unreservedly transferred the school to The Orient Education Society in April 1977, solidifying its management structure under a Board of Governors led by Dr. J.L. Banerjee as the Founder-President.

Initially catering up to Standard III with an enrollment of 100 students, the school's trajectory evolved under the leadership of Dr. P.R. Sengupta, who assumed the role of Head of the Institution in 1978. Through unwavering dedication alongside Dr. J.L. Banerjee, Dr. Sengupta successfully secured affiliation with the CISCE, New Delhi, in 1985, elevating the institution's stature.

Dr. Sengupta's instrumental efforts propelled the school to attain ISC (10 + 2) standard recognition in 1995, marking a significant milestone in its academic journey. After nurturing Dr. Banerjee's vision for over three decades, Dr. P.R. Sengupta retired in 2009, leaving behind a legacy of educational excellence.

Under the proficient guidance of Mr. Jayanta Banerjee, the Principal, and a dedicated cohort of educators, Orient Day School continues to flourish, adhering to government recognition by the Govt. of West Bengal and affiliation with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi. Its growth symbolizes an enduring commitment to quality education within the Behala community.
