Amrita Vidyalayam Durgapur

Amrita Vidyalayams stand as a distinguished chain of value-based schools, overseen by the revered Mata Amritanandamayi Math. The genesis of this educational journey traces back to a moment when Amma, contemplating the impending dearth of values in humanity, responded to the earnest appeal of devotees from Kodungallur, Kerala. Their plea was to establish a school in their hometown, and perceiving it as a profound opportunity to infuse values into future generations, Amma wholeheartedly agreed. This marked the inception of the first educational initiative by the Mata Amritanandamayi Math on June 1, 1987 - the birth of Amrita Vidyalayam (AV).

Over the years, the seeds of value-based education planted in Kodungallur blossomed into a network of Amrita Vidyalayams, extending both within and outside the state of Kerala. The majority of AV schools in Kerala align with the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), while one school in the state is affiliated with the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE). For schools situated in Tamil Nadu and Maharashtra, the curriculum seamlessly integrates with the guidelines laid out by the respective state educational departments and boards.

In the vibrant city of Kolkata, Amrita Vidyalayam stands as a beacon of academic excellence. This CBSE secondary school, under the stewardship of Mata Amritanandamayi Math, is strategically located at Sarkarpool, Budge Budge Trunk Road. Nestled on 5.328 acres of land, with the school building gracefully occupying nearly an acre, the campus symbolizes a commitment to providing a conducive environment for holistic learning. Comprising three academic blocks and a dedicated space for the canteen, the school's architecture mirrors the thoughtful integration of infrastructure and pedagogy, creating a haven where the pursuit of knowledge resonates with the values ingrained by Mata Amritanandamayi Math.

At Amrita Vidyalayam, Kolkata, the ethos of sound academics is not just a part of the curriculum; it is a way of life. Rooted in values, the school strives to nurture young minds not only academically but also ethically, fostering an environment where students emerge not just as scholars but as compassionate and responsible individuals ready to contribute to a harmonious and progressive society.
